A Father's Role

I miss a lot of what my dad was to me and what having a dad meant. But a lot of what I remember or cherish wasn't even real. Here's what my perfect dad would be like:

  1. Every birthday and Christmas, he'd make me a home made present- like a collage or a letter or a goofy drawing, telling me what it means to have me in his life.
  2. He'd cook for me when I was sick.
  3. He'd take me out to the movies and be super protective (but not too protective)
  4. He'd protect me from harm and potential harm-even if that meant sacrificing his immediate wants
  5. He wouldn't ever let me worry about things I shouldn't have to worry about
  6. He'd financially plan ahead for me and set good financial-examples
  7. He'd be supportive of me and what and who I loved
  8. He'd be really goofy and funny and confident and passionate and he'd always stick to his word
  9. He'd plan lots of family events and no matter how old we were, we'd do crazy fun dinners, trips, and projects together
  10. He'd always celebrate Christmas with us and call me on my birthday
  11. He would be proud of me
  12. He would love me
